David Slone Talks about the Journey Called Life

David SloneFor David Slone, 95% of life is a journey which he has enjoyed tremendously. David Slone is the proud husband and father of two, and he is convinced that focusing on the journey rather than the destination is what really matters. David Slone is grateful for an incredible career which has spanned over 20 years and led him to some of the greatest work places in the country. As an entrepreneur and former President of Macrosystem US, David Slone describes life as a remarkable journey that takes us on many paths; some happy, some sad, some even painful.  Regardless, David Slone believes that a positive outlook on life motivates us to do great things.

Q: What is the most important lesson of our journey?

No two journeys are alike, believes David Slone, although we all experience similar difficulties and feelings. Our journey is about the man or woman we are becoming, and not about all the things we are getting or wanting. Sometimes, according to David Slone, we lose focus and completely forget why we are on this journey. We become obsessed with the destination of our journey. But that’s not the point, says David Slone, since the destination only makes up 5% of the journey. We need to remember that life is not a dress rehearsal, but rather the real thing. Now is the time to enjoy the ride. So grab it by the horns while you can, encourages David Slone.

Q: What can I do to have a successful journey?

In order to have a successful journey, one thing we can do is to think positive thoughts, affirms David Slone. It is important to keep negativity away from our minds and hearts. David Slone points out that the Scripture teaches us that we should surround ourselves with good people. According to 1 Corinthians 15:33 – “Do not be misled. Bad associations spoil useful habits.”

Q: What would you say is one of the biggest mistakes people make on their journey?

David Slone believes that people often give up too easily. No one ever said the journey was going to be an easy one, points out David Slone. In fact, the best things in life are the hardest, adds David Slone. Therefore, people should never quit. Quitting has nothing to do with who you are in life; it simply says you are a quitter. Life, according to David Slone, has no room for quitters.

Q: Any other common mistakes people make on their journey?

People can make foolish decisions when they are around foolish people, says David Slone. It’s important to surround yourself with wise people.  Quoting Proverbs 13:20, David Slone notes that “He that is walking with wise persons will become wise, but he that is having dealings with the stupid ones will fare badly.”

Q: What effect does work have on our journey?

Business is never easy, but life is even harder. David Slone believes that we must work hard at both and never quit. Someone once said a good business does not make a good life, but a good life can make a good business. According to David Slone, we need to set realistic goals in life and take action.  It’s up to us to add life to our years!

Q: What makes the journey truly wonderful?

The journey becomes truly amazing when we start celebrating life and all the victories along the way, no matter how small, concludes David Slone.
